Visible word count checker
Word count is not a ranking target. It is a sanity check that the document has substance. A hero of images and a 12-word caption is a thin page, even if the file is large.
What we measure
Visible text after tags, scripts, styles and noscript blocks are stripped. Tokens need a letter or digit to count — a row of punctuation is not a word.
We do not run the page’s JavaScript. Copy injected only after hydration is invisible here. If the article lives in a client render, this number will look unfairly small — that is the signal.
What it is not
There is no “minimum 300 words” pass mark. Thin is context: a contact page can be short; a buying guide should not be. Use the number next to the rest of the audit, not as a quota.
